I've been reading a fascinating book on Training Hawks. It's a true story of a woman who wants to learn how to train a goshawk, which are notoriously difficult among the kind of falconry world to train. And it's been a fascinating, fascinating Reed because there's all this care and this nurture that goes into, you get

them when they're young, you have to develop them physically, they have to get to flying

strength and so you do these different you know exercises with them and

and then you take them out on a leash I think it's called a crayons but you take them out on a leash

and it's 20-yard flights and 40 40 yard flights and your goal is getting the place where you

set that hawk loose without any leash or encumbrances and any tie, right? You need to get that hawk, they call it their

flying weight, they have to get them to the right physical condition, they're flying

right, it's a mental thing for them. that to that place where you want to set them free to fly and they can do it and handle the freedom

specifically on initiating boys because the point that we made in episode one is boys don't become men just because they

get older and they certainly don't become good men simply because they get a

driver's license or the right to vote or the age to drink or

whatever last rights of passage our culture may have. So it's a process that really
