Kate dives into the results of a survey that over 1,000 listeners filled out about their expectations, preferences, and boundaries as it relates to influencer content during COVID-19. The good, the bad, the off-putting, and more importantly, the great! The first episode was an objective conversation with a reporter on influencer culture to discuss some of the scandals, this episode is all about listener feedback, and the third installment will be Kate's take on the art, science, and finance of influencing. Hope you don't mind she made this into a series since it's a hot topic and she's got the time.

Hi everybody, welcome back to the Be There In 5 podcast. I'm Kate Kennedy and I'm cartoonishly making my voice sound excited because it is 3.30 a.m. on Thursday morning. I'm having a hell of a time with technology.

0:11.0

It's not your problem, but apologies if my voice is a little sleepier than usual.

0:17.0

I already recorded the majority of the episodes, so I just wanted to do a quick intro. I apologize to you for any issues you're having with my content and expectations of it.

0:27.0

Usually my podcast comes out Wednesday evening.

0:30.0

It's Thursday, the 3 in the morning, and I'm just, you know, I'm like my own in-house AV club. My husband's like, you're always just like buried in like chords and like connecting things and like on the phone.

0:41.0

I mean, you know, like in 90s, it comes like the nerves of the pocket protectors and the broken taped glasses.

0:48.0

We're always in like the audio visual club. Also, can they afford new glasses? Also, if they're closer nice enough to protect the pocket from the pen in your pocket, you should be able to get new glasses and not have to tape them.

0:59.0

Also, you shouldn't have to use white tape. Use black electric tape, right? Use it. And also, what a glorification of bullies, you know?

1:06.0

Like, isn't it so weird that in the 90s, you were like, that's so hot that Zach Morris dehumanizes people and breaks their glasses and like kicks their chair off from under them. Like, what a smoke show.

1:16.0

Take me to the sock hop. Anyway, not the point. So what I decided to do, I had a, I, something a hell of a time uploading that episode.

1:26.0

And the problem with that is that I've been it like I'm having issues. It's not working. And I have the opportunity to tweak the file. I'm trying to compress it. Then I'll rethink it. And what I realized is you guys took the time to fill out this survey.

1:38.0

It's not that I think it's like going to change the world. It's like that. It's something that crazy. It's just like helpful context and instead of like skim over it and then spend majority of the episode, like telling you my thoughts and theories.

1:50.0

I thought, well, let's have just an episode that completely breaks out the survey results entirely. I'll share as much as I can. I don't care that it's two hours and 50 minutes long, though, you know, you're here at will.

1:59.0

Save it for later if you want to.

2:01.0

But, you know, share as much as my internet will let me upload. And then I'll have a third piece, you know, that's just kind of I've already recorded it. So, um, where I just like share more of my experience, you know, in terms of

2:16.0

getting closer to the sun, if you will, while I don't consider myself a career influencer, because of the way I monetize my Instagram, it's off of nominal affiliate links and I don't actually profit very much off of view at all.

2:27.0

And I do think the job of somebody that profits off of view is a little bit different than somebody like me who's entertainer there to entertain and have it be ancillary to their income and not primarily their income.

2:37.0

And that's also why I feel a bit of license to talk about influencers talk about snow, storing so loudly. I like, hey, bud.

2:44.0

Sorry, I'm so bored by this content. Cheese tough crowd. And given that, you know, a lot of influencers do listen to this podcast and I hope listen to this episode instead of forcing you like if I was like, let me tell you why I think people hate influencers.

2:58.0

I'm like, I literally have a full diet drive. Like I've really thought this through, but I sometimes I'm like, okay, if I promise something, I need to just do that thing and separate out my thoughts. I try to listen to feedback.

3:10.0

So yeah, therefore if you're here and you just want to hear the results of over a thousand people on now influencers behave awesome.

3:19.0

And if you want to hear, you know, some of the juice, some of the scoop, how much money do I make off Instagram? Why I think people don't like influencers?
