Consumer prices are doing just about what analysts expected.

The Labor Department's Consumer Price Index rose 3 tenths percent in April

compared to a year ago it was up 3.4 percent. A vast

majority of the increase was fueled by higher energy and housing costs. The

numbers were roughly in line with what analysts had been expecting.

Meanwhile retail sales in April were flat compared to the month prior.

On an annual basis they trailed inflation, suggesting consumers were pulling back on some of their spending or

looking for bargains. The Justice Department says Boeing has breached a

deferred prosecution agreement struck several years ago. That means the planemaker

could now face criminal charges

over two deadly crashes involving its max model. The International Energy Agency

trimmed its forecast for oil consumption this year. It still expects global oil demand to grow now by 1.1 million
