Summary

We welcome you into this intimate laughy conversation with three awesome full time artists--Photographer Ryan Redorn (Osage), painter Yatika Star Fields (Cherokee, Creek and Osage) and traditional tattoo artist Holly Nordlum (Inupiaq) for this second episode of Indigenous Artist to Artist as we discuss the importance of indigenous people holding space in the art world, the difference between help and inherent power, while we dare to imagine an otherwise— how beautiful might our world be if Native people were at the helm?

We also wanted to talk about the reason behind the work that we do as creative as artists

0:38.6

whatever it is.

0:39.6

So, Menteek and I were talking about this before the call and thinking about like I am a writer

0:46.8

and I am a podcaster and I am a storyteller in those ways and the reason I do it and the

0:53.1

reason I spend so much time thinking about it is because I believe that telling our

0:57.7

stories in real and authentic ways matters and that that can create actual change in

1:04.9

the world and the way that people see us.

1:08.4

And so that's what grounds me in this work and like keeps me going in terms of all of

1:13.3

the daily strife of trying to be a writer, be a podcaster, be a academic is that I believe

1:20.5

in the power of our voices.

1:23.8

So if we could have each of you kind of talk about who you are and that sort of reason behind

1:31.8

the work that you do.

1:35.8

Sorry.

1:43.8

Oh my relation.

1:54.9
