Sure, there's no signed deal yet, but lawmakers voted nearly unanimously sending a message that Indiana wants the Chicago Bears.

And they're not afraid to use some creative financing to make it happen.

Creative financing being the key word there.

So this happened yesterday, voting overwhelmingly 95 in favor,

four opposed the Indiana House of Representatives approved Senate

Bill 27 and that would set the stage for the Chicago Bears to come to Hammond.

And now this is going to go back to the Senate.

And if they approve it, it'll head to the governor's desk.

Yeah.

And more and more details keep coming out about this as this bill

advances and what I find the most interesting part of this is there seems to be

a little bit of a funding gap. They'll tell you there is a little bit.

Well, Indiana is going to contribute about a billion dollars to this and it's going to be done through these new use taxes that are lined out in this bill.

And there's going to be a food and beverage tax, and it's estimated that'll earn about $10 million a year.

And then there's going to be a hotel tax, and that'll be about another $5 or $10 million a year.

And then there's going to be a tax on every ticket to any event,

whether it's the Bears or not, in that stadium of 12%.

And that looks like that'll be about another $10 to $15 million.

So you've got about this $35 million a year in taxes that they've lined up.

But the state is going to be spending a billion dollars to build the stadium.

There seems to be a bit of a shortfall.
