India's new government has revealed a new budget.

India's Prime Minister, Norengra Modi, is making big moves to stabilise his government

and boost the economy.

Modi's party lost its ruling majority in June's election and the first coalition government

for a decade has announced a massive spending plan.

The BBC's Archena Shukla has more high. Hi Leanna.

Archena give us the key headlines from this budget?

Well, this budget is one of the first of a coalition government in a decade.

So the lines that come in shows the support and the focus for political allies but it also focuses on

some of the cues that the government would have picked up in the election

verdict last month so they've kept the focus on spending on infrastructure as is. So in the interim budget

they had announced 132 billion dollars to be spent on roads, railways, airports. That is a big

spend that has pushed GDP growth for the country in the

last few years. But the other big focus has been on creating employment. Joblessness is becoming

a chronic problem in India and the government now has directly addressed

that.

They've allocated about $24 billion for job creation, skilling of youth and supporting the

medium and small enterprises that are key in creating large scale jobs.

But the focus is also on creating formal jobs.

Remember, India is a country where almost 85% of the jobs are in the informal sector.
