There are serious concerns about Sunday's election in Venezuela after the longtime president Nicholas Maduro was

declared the victor despite opinion polls before the vote showing him

trailing far behind the opposition candidate Edmondo Gonzalez. One after the other a host of countries from the

Americas including the US have expressed their disbelief and concern over the

results and the opposition has denounced the outcome saying that Mr. Gonzalez had in fact won around

three quarters of the vote and he is now the president-elect.
