Hello and welcome to best laid plans. This is your host, Sarah Hardunger, and this is the podcast where we talk all things planning and planning adjacent. I have a bit of a personal episode for you again today because, well, I'm going to talk about it,

0:24.0

but I'm just feeling a little bit in the weeds right now.

0:28.0

And this is a harder topic to talk about because I love planning.

0:32.9

I stand by my own planning techniques and the things we talk about week after week on this podcast.

0:38.1

And I have to also admit that sometimes no matter what you do, things can get hard. You can get

0:44.8

behind. You can feel stressed. And right now, I am in one of those phases myself. I'm going to share

0:52.8

some of the things that got me to be behind and how I'm

0:56.2

feeling about it and then also some ways that I'm hoping to carve myself out over the next

1:02.1

couple of weeks and hopefully soon. And just for context, I'm recording this episode after a

1:07.9

full day of work. This is my actually fourth weekday in a row of seeing

1:12.1

patients in the office, which is a lot when I normally work part time. And I have projects

1:20.2

that have been due. I had to spend my weekend working on something. And I like both of my

1:26.1

jobs. I like all of them. And I don't want to work on the weekends

1:31.1

very often, certainly not doing intense time sensitive work. And I don't want to be recording

1:35.8

podcast episodes at seven in the evening after I've seen patience all day and then picked up my

1:40.1

kid and then had dinner, et cetera. But this is where we are right now. And it is temporary.

1:47.2

And I'm hoping to carve my way out. So we're going to talk through some of that today in this

1:52.4

episode. So why? Why are we here? Have I always felt this behind? Was I always recording

1:59.5

podcast episodes at 7 o'clock at night on a clinical day?

2:03.8

No, the answer is no.

2:05.4

In fact, when I first went to 60% time, I remember thinking, oh, my goodness, this is amazing.

2:10.7

I have full Mondays and Wednesdays to get work done.
