Welcome to the Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast. A conversation designed to help leaders

0:07.4

go further faster. On today's podcast, we're going to look at two words that should be an

0:12.3

essential part of every leader's vocabulary. Well, Andy, let's just get right to the point

0:17.2

of today's podcast. What are these two words that are so important? Well, as you know,

0:21.6

I'm usually pretty direct and I'm usually ready to jump right to the point. But I need

0:26.3

to tease this out just a bit because I'm afraid that when I tell our podcast listeners,

0:31.1

what the two words are, some of them might have a tendency to dismiss them too quickly. Here's

0:35.8

what I know. Leadership requires us to keep our focus out front. We're always asking where

1:07.6

did yesterday. The only time I think about what I did yesterday is I always wake up about

1:12.3

three o'clock on Monday morning, thinking about my sermon and how what I should have done.

1:16.4

But other than that, you know, as leaders, we wake up thinking about the future. Yeah,

1:20.8

it all sounds really positive, but I'm guessing there's a downside here. Yeah. Well, there

1:24.4

is a downside. The downside is we're so prone to look forward that we forget to look back.

1:30.0

And that's what leads us to our two words. Okay. So are you ready to tell us now? Almost

1:35.5

here. Here's one more one more precursor to the two words. Here's the thing in the wake

1:41.0

of our progress. Again, we're always looking forward, but in the wake of our progress,
