Summary

Inspired by a story told to her by an Indigenous elder, Taipei-based artist Anchi Lin, also known by her Atayal name Ciwas Tahos, is working on a new multi-media installation. Anchi has dedicated her research and creative work to exploring the Indigenous space of Temahahoi, a place where queer, gender non-conforming people lived and could communicate with bees, who were also their protection from approaching intruders. Combining new technology, handmade ceramics and traditional bee chasing skills, Anchi Lin celebrates her Indigenous culture and identity in her work.

0:24.0	so this is a very humble neighborhood. You can see this is the breakfast shop
0:30.0	where I usually hit my breakfast. And then I really enjoy this tree across the road
0:34.5	because my window, I can see this tree right in front of me.
0:39.8	So it's quite nice in the concrete jungle to have this tree.

0:45.0	Yeah, let's go up.
0:47.0	We don't have elevators here, just stairs.
0:50.0	This is in a very kind of old apartment building, so usually there's no elevators.

0:58.2	Is this incense? It smells really lovely in here.
1:05.0	So at night time in this building there's so many mosquitoes.
1:09.0	So my neighbors like to burn incense to kind of repel the bugs away.
