Liverpool's managing director Christian Perslow rocks back and forth in his seat as he waits

for a transatlantic call to connect. Christian joined Liverpool last summer to help the club

out of the crisis brought on by its debts. The soccer team's owners took out huge loans

when they bought Liverpool and these were due for repayment three months ago.

The Royal Bank of Scotland granted a short extension however

and negotiations are still ongoing over a longer term deal.

In the meantime though Christian has found an investor

willing to put money into the club and hopefully restore it to financial health.

He just needs to get the co-owners George Gillette and Tom Hicks on board with the deal.

So he's starting with what he thinks will be the toughest nut to crack, Tom Hicks.
