The mom was very upset, distraught, because she said she talked to her daughter at least

twice a day, and she had not heard from her since that Friday evening before, and she was

just adamant something was wrong.

I didn't tell her, I know that too, because I don't want to upset him, you know, in the

very beginning, but, you know, the old saying would detect a say, that's what we call a

clue.

There's definitely something to a parent's intuition, and you know that saying that

moms always know, and they do, right, at least most, call it instinct or whatever you please,

but they usually can tell when there's something going on.

And in this case, just a brief lapse in communication was all it took for one mom to fear for her

daughter's safety.

For today's case, we talked to Jim Shaw, who's the former police chief, but for years he

was a detective at the Ottawa Police Department.

I worked in anewol from October of 2011, until I retired.

My last active day was July 22, 2020.

He didn't exactly start out with plans to go into police work.

There's something I fell into, I started going to college a couple of years after I got

out of the Marine Corps, because I wanted to be a history teacher.

But eventually Jim Shaw did end up working in law enforcement.
