Oftentimes the news has a way of surprising us with really crazy things that pop up.

Sometimes it's stuff from Florida, other times it's from Texas, and more often than not,

there's also a new Tik-Tok trend that is going to shock us and make us question why people do the things they do

This week is no different and so welcome to the podcast where we're going to start a new series called In The News

where I'm going to highlight some of the crazier things

that have happened in the news recently that you need to know as a health care professional,

and also some updates from the United States Preventative Services Task Force and other guideline-based organizations to help you practice

medicine better.

So before we get started, just remember, this is going to be an ongoing series, kind of like

current affairs, but really for medicine.

so let's get started. Tic-Tock strikes again with the US Food and Drug Administration having to actually tell

people that cooking chicken and my quil cold medicine not only is not appetizing but it's also not safe.

The agency recently issued a warning about videos that are surfacing on the Tik-Toc that is actually challenging people to cook chicken and

Nyquil, which contains medications like

Cedaminophen, dextramatorphine, and of course, doxalanine.

But those of you are also fans of Musanix don't feel left out.

We've also found videos of other people

using other over-the-caro cough and cold medications and even some of the generic brands from

some of our pharmacies because hey, if you're doing a Tik-talk challenge, might as well save some

money. And that is not an indication to go ahead and do this. I'm actually saying it's absolutely stupid. Here's why. Boiling a medication actually makes it more concentrated and even change its properties. We actually don't know what's going to happen if you eat this
