A serious sci-fi movie that tracks humanity from cave men and women to outer space.

0:05.5

You had me at cavemen and women.

0:08.3

And outer space.

0:09.4

Howdy?

0:09.8

I'm Jeff Goldsmith, and this is the Q&A.

0:12.1

My agenda is simple.

0:13.3

Each week I plan to bring you in-depth insights into the creative process of storytelling.

0:17.7

And folks, I'm quite pleased to have with me today, Colby Day. He is the

0:21.6

screenwriter of In the Blink of an Eye, which you could watch right now on Hulu. It's in your pocket. But for the sake of all that's good in humanity, please do not watch it on your phone. I was lucky enough to see it at Sundance this year, and I saw it on the big screen with 1,200 people, and it was a cool experience.

1:05.7

So the fun thing here is that if you want to, you could read the article and the interview and the original

1:12.4

screenplay as of that time, which I believe was 2018, and see how it's changed to the final

1:17.9

film, because it's sitting right there for your enjoyment in the magazine. But look, Colby was

1:22.8

great at giving us insight into his creative process and what it took to make in the blink of an eye

1:28.8

so I know you'll dig this episode. And speaking of things to dig, I hope you also check out

1:33.8

backstory magazine. We recently published our Oscars issue and there was a lot of great stuff

1:39.2

to explore in there. In Issue 58, we feature interviews with Oscar nominatednominated screenwriters, Oscar-nominated cinematographers,
