Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result this time specifically referencing the Omicron variant.

Oh boy, so at any rate mask mandates, closing of businesses sending kids home from school. We've learned nothing from our previous experiences in the battle against the Chinese bat fever.

And indeed the great and idiotic state of Cal Unicornia has reimposed a universal mask mandate and I can build businesses in schools and that sort of stuff.

We can give you the particulars. I mean, Californians in particular will care about that. But it is it is extraordinary.

In spite of the dearth of data demonstrating indeed that masks are effective. I'm looking at the map of the latest outbreak of the Chinese bat fever. There it is.

And indeed some of the most shut down in particular states in the union are the most affected by the current wave of things in particular scanning down Michigan all across the upper Midwest Illinois Michigan very blue states very serious with Wisconsin same thing.

New York State Pennsylvania. It just appears to be the Northeast where it's cold and oddly enough right there in the middle of the country. I believe that's Kansas. Yes indeed. I lived there for five years. You think I'd recognize it.

Kansas and then again oddly enough new Mexico and Arizona seem to be a little bit out breaky perhaps because of their older populations. Now I'll tell you this in the interest of fairness the rolling average of deaths is up something like 20% in the last two weeks, which is not cool.

It's a little over 1200 people a day. Crocan around the United States. So there's still a serious disease, but I think the long story short is it's just it is what it is. And it will be something like this for a very long time.

We need to plunge on with our lives and the kids schooling in the rest of it. We talked about a fair amount late in the show yesterday.

Some of the data starting to come in about the closure of schools worldwide in the devastating effect that it's had on children not only the loss of a certain number of years of schooling, but the fact that you really can't make that deficit up easily because the plasticity kids brains at a young age they just learn like sponges.

And secondly, there's just always be a little bit behind what seems counterintuitive you think you catch kids up at some point, but they think the educational losses combined with what is increasingly clearly a devastating emotional toll that this has taken we've turned.

You know, a generation of kids weird and sad and depressed and anxious by our over reacting, which brings me to one of the other grand themes of the show, which I will reintroduce when Jack's technical problems are dealt with these broadcasting from home. He's home from the hospital. That's the good news.

I mean, that's the fantastic news. But yeah, he's having some problems connecting from his home studio, I guess, but anyway, one of the grand themes and it's it's not a pleasant one. I apologize for that. There's plenty of mirth and cheeriness to happen today. I promise.
