Summary

Alan Reid is on a mission to find his nirvana, the place that just might inspire him to set down roots. He left British Columbia about a year ago on the most suitable motorcycle for him, a KLR, but he didn’t really do any planning or make a budget. Despite not even having a roadside repair kit, he possesses the most valuable tool for a successful adventure – a positive attitude. Alan's approach towards travelling and his outlook on life are unlocking opportunities for him to connect, discover, and explore. Whether his ideal destination is nearby or further away, or even if he decides to take a different direction, Alan is having the most fantastic time in his pursuit of paradise. 0:31.2

What if you just jumped on your bike without rebuilding it, without adding a bunch of

0:35.5

farkles to it, without modifying anything without learning roadside repair or how to fix your tire,

0:40.7

without even planning your stops, or even a solid destination or a budget.

0:45.5

Well that would be a different kind of trip.

0:47.9

It wouldn't be for everyone, mainly because of uncertainty.

0:52.1

We humans don't do well with uncertainty, I think we all understand that,

0:55.0

perhaps it's in our DNA to fear the unknown, to not know what will or what might happen to us sort of freaks us out.

1:03.1

Which if you think about it is curious because

1:06.2

isn't that the reason that most people want to travel is to discover new things,

1:10.0

experiences, to be surprised? Yet we spend so much time trying to organize and plan our

1:15.8

adventure so that we don't have these surprises. Today we have Al Reed.

1:21.6

Al is traveling on his motorcycle, his KLR 650.

1:25.2

He's in Central America right now.

1:27.4

Al doesn't use any of the tools, really, that I mentioned at the start here.
