Scripture is full of all sorts of teachings.

It would be, it would really take a lot of books

if one sat down to make a full, uh, complete catalog of everything that scripture teaches big and small.

Of course, it's all right there between the pages and in those 66 books, but is there any rhyme or reason to all of the things

that scripture teaches? Is there a teaching that is central, if you will, to which all of the other teachings are attached

Well Luther said there was. And he was not alone in saying that, of course. He

derived his teaching in the 16th century from scripture itself. He said it was the

teaching of justification that a man is declared righteous before God,

solely by God's grace, through faith for Christ's sake alone.

And what he meant by that was if this teaching goes wrong everything else

is in danger of going wrong. If this teaching is off, then everything else will be off.
