Summary

This is an emergency episode - I am on vacation in Montana and got a call from Don 'DJ' Rentz's sister, telling me that Don was being kept alive on life support and if I wanted to say goodbye to him. I did and later that day, on July 4th Don passed away. I wanted to make sure everyone in our community knew about Don's passing. The tragedy was seemingly not an overdose - instead his death has been determined a homocide. The Rentz family are devestated and looking for more information - so if anyone has any - please send information to [email protected] This episode is meant to let you guys know what happened and to be a tribute for Don. 0:24.8	vacation with my family in Montana right now in West Yellowstone. And we were in Salt Lake
0:34.9	City, Utah when I got the news that Don Rents died.
0:41.4	Don also went by the name DJ.
0:44.2	He was on our show at least four times, the first time being in 2016 with me and Chris.
0:53.7	Don was a close friend of mine.
0:56.0	He ran our, and I put in air quotes, our sales team for a couple of years.
1:01.8	We got him a very long-term scholarship to oral recovery years ago, and I've been close
1:09.2	with him on and off ever since. His sister called me two days ago
1:14.6	to tell me that he was going to die and asked me if I could say something to him because she was
1:19.9	sitting at his bedside, having his friends and family letting Don know that we loved him.
1:29.7	And Don was an incredibly lovable person, one of the kindest, sweetest, most open people that I ever met, and he was a horrible drug addict.

1:46.1	after I explain the little information I have about this. Don was somebody who used math and
1:57.6	shot Coke and shot fentanyl and always wanted to come back to recovery and always
2:05.0	wanted to be a part of recovery. He loved Dopey. He always wanted to be a part of Dopee. I saw him
2:11.2	this month at Dope Wood in California and as always he looked pretty great. I'm going to read the post that Don's
2:20.8	brother Maxwell made on Facebook, because it's more important than anything I have to say.
2:27.2	He says, with deep sadness, I want to share that my brother, DJ, Don Rents, has passed away
2:33.2	on July 4th.
