negotiations. In 40 years of public service I never saw anything as astonishing as a senior

That is just extraordinary.

And I kind of sometimes wonder if we're in the middle of an orchestrated psychodrama

where the threat is made and there's a huge row and lots of people

are doing five former prime ministers and some prominent supporters of Brexit say this is

unacceptable and then you get a deal at the end of it, and we've all

been through all of this and actually was all a negotiating ploy. So I don't know. I don't know.

But how much does that remind you of Trump's America?

I don't know whether there is any conscious attention to the way that President Trump negotiates in what the British government has been

now.

Only the Prime Minister knows that, but you are absolutely right that there are some similarities.
