What you're hearing in verse 2, do not be conformed to this world is a loud trumpet blast of the pilgrim principle.

You don't belong in this world.

You're an alien here. You're in exile here. You've been bought out in this world. You're an alien here.

You're in exile here.

You've been bought out of the world.

Your life is hid with Christ in God.

Live like a citizen of another kingdom.

Now, that's all true, and that needs to be heard.

But in order for it to be heard properly,

we just have to hear it in tension

with that other stream of truth in the New Testament,

I have become all things to all people

that I might save so.
