That's it. And today, we're talking about the United States Supreme Court. That rag-tag assemblage

of mostly fascists has been in the

news a bunch over the past week or so, and for good reason. They've been hearing arguments about

and deliberating over the fate of birthright citizenship in this country. Trump has had a boner for

eliminating birthright citizenship probably since his own

birth, but at the very least, since his Christian nationalist handlers told him it's part of what

must be done to bring Jesus back to save the billionaires and destroy all the windmills. On the first day of his second term,

Trump signed an executive order aimed at stripping a whole bunch of those little babies right-wingers

care about so much of their citizenship. If you're unfamiliar, the most basic definition of

birthright citizenship is that if you're born on U.S. soil,

you're a U.S. citizen.

It's that easy, and it's been the law of the land for a very long time.

Birthright citizenship was enshrined in the Constitution way back in 1868 when the 14th Amendment

was ratified.

In that case, it was meant as an undoing of the Dred Scott decision

that denied black people the right to U.S. citizenship. It went back to court 30 years later

in the case of United States v. Wong Kim Ark, where it was decided that the same promise of

citizenship applies to the children of immigrants.
