Back in about 98-99, at our school they bring American Red Cross up and they do a bloodmobile.

I went and gave blood, did everything they had asked me to do.

Maybe a month or so later I got a certified letter in the mail.

I was 16 years old.

And then from there I went to the doctor and got on an arrangement of medicine.

And I've been under technical ever since.

Being diagnosed with this autoimmune deficiency isn't a death sentence anymore.

Because of the advances in medicine, it's possible for people to live a long and healthy life.

But the stigma that became attached to HIV during the height of the AIDS crisis is still ongoing.
