The What is up, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Fudge Marpet. I'm Scott here with Michael

0:30.5

and Drew. As always, this is the Elder Scrolls podcast. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.

0:36.4

And today, we are talking about the

0:39.4

Imperials. Larger, like, we haven't really talked about them as a race yet, and really even as a

0:45.1

culture. We've done two episodes, one on the Elysian Empire, one of the Rehmann Empire.

0:49.9

So we'll probably go a little lighter on those sections, but there's still plenty to talk about.

0:55.8

Let's start with an interesting race fact about the Imperials, and that's that they didn't really seem to be much of a race before Morowind.

1:03.8

If you actually go and look at the playable races in Arena and Daggerfall, you can't be an imperial.

1:11.8

And I believe, and I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that they were kind of added

1:16.0

as more of a race of their own in Adventures Red Guard.

1:20.2

Yeah, it became more of a thing later.

1:22.0

Because I think that's an important thing is, you know,

1:24.5

Ciridil being the central location and the amount of history that's taken

1:27.6

place in and around Syriol, it's really hard to pinpoint any specific features or facts about

1:34.0

imperials that makes them imperial except for the fact they're part of the empire. So the idea of them

1:39.3

being important in Redguard makes sense because you've got the imperial armies attacking Strass-McCai. Whereas when you're in their homeland, the rulers of Cyradil doesn't really have much of a bearing on the people when you've got all of these different influences, like the old needic, the Nordic, the Kolovi and the Nibonese. It's like, well, what makes an imperial? Well, that's even what they call, like, some of them get called, like, they call them serudilics, but then sometimes there's, like, serenautics to sort of describe them, which is, you know, describing, like, the Nordic influence. But if we want to go into, from a law perspective, the oldest thing is basically the needics. so they're an Oedic group of people that were like

2:19.4

native to Cyradil at the time when the Ailids and stuff were there. But, and I think everyone

2:25.8

knows that story many times over. You know, Alicia comes about, they rebel. And with the help of

2:32.1

the Nords coming from the north, they fight off the

2:36.2

ailids and they start a new pantheon, and that's the imperial divines that basically, well, in an

2:42.6

infancy sort of form, because it doesn't really, you've got to go through all the Elysian order
