0:09.8	little different. Today a special single episode deep dive with one of our earliest
0:15.8	reporters. L. E. U. spent months investigating nursing homes in California and uncovered
0:21.2	thousands of people with serious mental illness living in
0:24.0	facilities not intended to care for mentally ill patients. Many of these
0:29.0	patients are not actually elderly. I've had a patient as young as 19 years old, 22. For people
0:37.4	working in these nursing homes the conditions can feel dangerous. They ran
0:41.4	faster and moved better than I did.
0:45.0	Nursing homes have become de facto mental health facilities because there are just not enough places for people to go.
