Hello again, I'm on Al-Ni, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International,

a daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, has rounded up and detained increasing

numbers of undocumented people in the past five years. The Washington Post says tens of thousands

are being kept in overcrowded prisons with little access to the legal help or health care they're

entitled to. Many have died, but ICE denies its officials are well aware that inmates, including asylum seekers,

are put at risk by an overtaxed system. On To the Point, we'll hear from a post reporter,

an ICE spokesman, and others. On reporter's notebook later on, President Bush denounces

appeasers, was he talking about Barack Obama?

special prisons where detainees are deprived of legal rights and adequate medical care.
