How about we talk about some books? Does that sound good?

Hi y'all, welcome back to Gilmore to Read. I'm your host, Haley, and I'm so glad to have you here.

This episode is a little bit long, but I think it is so worthwhile because it is one of my favorite episodes we've ever done.

It also feels like it was brought to us by the whims of fate and technology. And I will tell you why in a second,

but before we get into the episode, in case you didn't know or you have forgotten, Gilmore to

read is our book club segment of Gilmore to Say. Our book club, Gilmore to Read, is actually

comprised of two book clubs the first being called

Where You Read I Will Follow, where we read books that feel more like what Rory might have read,

literary fiction, classics, contemporary fiction, memoirs.

And this month we've decided to dedicate this book club to two women who were disparaged on the show,

two women that Tara and I deeply love.

And that is Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears and we'll be reading their memoirs.

We're going to be reading them for April and May.

You can read one, read both, read them in reverse order, because I will be reading Jessica

in April and Brittany in May.

I'm already halfway through Jessica's.

I'm listening to it on

Spotify. She narrates it. It is so heartbreaking and uplifting and proving to me that I had zero

context for what is going on in her life. It has made me want to start a gratitude journal. I'm

crying every night when I'm listening to it. It's just, it's so good. And next month, I will of course

listen to Britney's, which is narrated by Michelle Williams,

and I'm so excited to get to that one.
