Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome to our short Bible study today. What do you say we cover a whole letter in one day?

You down for that? It's 2nd John and it's just one chapter.

John writes to a selected lady and her children, urging them to continue walking in truth and love.

He rejoices that some of them are living according to the truth, just as the father commanded.

He reminds them of the old command to love one

another and explains that love is demonstrated through obedience to God's commands. John warns against

deceivers, who do not acknowledge that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Such individuals are identified

as Antichrists. He encourages believers to be careful and not lose what they have worked for,

but to remain faithful so that they may receive a full reward. Anyone who does not remain in the

teaching of Christ does not have God. John concludes with hope to visit soon and encourages

ongoing fellowship and faithfulness. As you can see, this themology of 1 John just continues,

loving one another, believing and acknowledging Jesus, and then all of the commands just

follow in place upon those two basics. We are encouraged to stay grounded in both truth and love.

Knowing what is right isn't enough. We're called to live it out each day. Loving one

another shows that we belong to God and are walking in his light. At the same time, we must

be cautious of false teachings that seek to distort the truth about Jesus. We guard our hearts

by holding firm to the message we first believed and by remaining connected to the teachings
