This is Bill Press and Friends on the District Productive Network.

Let's start with the inauguration. I got to tell you, I watched a lot more of it than I thought.

Got home from the studio and, you know, turned the TV on, as they were starting to fill up there in front of the Capitol.

And I got hooked on it because, like it or not, you know, the guy who was taken over,

and it was a beautiful picture of who we are as a people to see that capital, our nation's

capital, and to see the Democratic leaders of Congress, the Republican leaders of Congress,

to see President Carter, President George W. Bush, President Obama coming down to see, the only one

that wasn't there was H.W. Bush, right, W. Bush. To see Joe Biden there, to see the members of the Supreme Court, the leaders of our military, the Joint Chiefs.

It is, we're reminded, I guess, every four years of who we are as a people, that this peaceful transfer of power that's handing over from one administration to the next is a historic ceremony it's as close to kind

of royal ritual that we come to and I got to tell you it made you proud to be an

American if you could just forget who the characters were right that just seeing that

whole ceremony and the way it was choreographed, I thought, too.

It was so beautifully handled.

The timing was just perfect.

One after the other, they came down.

It took place right on time.

And one nice little bonus is that, as we were hoping what happened, it started raining

as soon as Donald Trump started speaking, yeah, because the speech, now look, I was figuring out last night, okay?

The very first, and I was just a kid, the very first inaugural speech that I remember was John F. Kennedy when he famous, because I, you know, he was my hero as a young

Catholic that's the first Catholic running for president.

And the person who got me interested in politics interviewed him when I was in high school.

That hearing him say, ask not what your country can do, ask what you can do for your country.
