Some couples love to have a date night or a candlelight dinner or walking hand in hand along a beach,

but what if that isn't romance to you?

I'm John Fuller joined by Dr. Greg Smalley and his wife,

Aaron, who lead the Focus Marriage Department.

And Aaron, I'm pretty sure you've met a couple or two or three or more in which

one has a kind of a romance love language that the other doesn't quite get.

Absolutely and there's multiple because we are all different.

And sometimes it comes in the form of one being more romantic than the other.

A couple comes to mind that I worked with several years back and the

husband actually was the more romantic one and he tried and he tried and he tried and

she just was not romantic he'd take her out in these dates and she

just was kind of not into it it wasn't her thing she didn't feel connected going and doing romantic type dates. So he of course felt rejected.

Just like mac and cheese at home and whatever.

Pizza at home watching a whatever. Pizza at home, watching a movie.

But he actually felt rejected.

But of course, that's his to manage.

And I encouraged him to do that,

but also to figure out, how do we do this in a way that works for both.

Mm-hmm.

You have stressed, the two of you have stressed the importance of communication,

especially about this kind of thing.
