Hi, my name is Lewis Howes and welcome to the Daily Motivation Show.

I used to use a lot of words growing up about myself, to myself and to others.

0:17.2

I would say, I'm an idiot, I'm stupid, I'll never learn these things, I'm not smart. I was in the bottom of my class, bottom of four in my class. They used to grade us, or rank us in our, on our classes where I was in school. So I could always see that was in the bottom four consistently all through middle school and high school. So just always, I was just like, I'm never going to be good enough. I'm never going to learn like you guys. I would say these words and built an identity about me to

0:42.2

self that would limit me and to others that would limit me. How much does the identity you've built

0:48.4

for yourself empower you or hold you back? Would say I know that um you know when people

0:57.1

see me on the streets uh I'm fluffy yeah fluffy you know it's very rare that I'll

1:03.6

get you know Gabriel really they'll say fluffy and then like who is it it's

1:09.0

Gabriel Iglesias you know I mean it's all tied together but it's so much easier to call somebody by the nickname. It's an easy nickname. And it's not like it's a different person. It's just it's a nickname that's, you know, it's me. But I am seen a certain way because of the shows and the consistency that, oh, you know, he's the guy that

1:27.9

talks about his son. He's the guy that talks about his friend. He's the guy that, so I'm

1:32.9

limited in the sense that if I was all of a sudden start talking about politics or become,

1:38.4

you know, start venting and being very vulgar being, you know, that, you know, and there are

1:43.8

times when I do want to

1:46.6

vent and I can't on stage because it's not something that goes with, with what I've created,

1:54.2

and it's not going to be well received by everyone. I might hit a few. There might be some people

1:59.9

that will relate to what I'm saying,

2:01.7

but I'm going to ruffle a lot of feathers in the process. And so I have to remind myself,

2:06.9

this is not the place to do that. Right. So because of what I built there, I can't, you know,

2:13.2

I can't be 100 right here. This is not going to go well.

2:18.3

But what about the identity?

2:19.9

What about the identity with Fluffy?

2:22.7

The identity with Fluffy?

2:23.2

No.
