Today, what a sci-fi story about living multiple lives says about our current reality. Hey, I'm Sam Sanders, and for the next month or so, I'm going to be guest hosting this show

while Shimita is on parental leave.

A lot of you might not know me at all.

So a bit about myself. I've hosted pop culture and

entertainment podcast at NPR, then at Vulture, and now I co-host a podcast with

two good friends of mine. It's called Vibe Check. So all this to say during

my time guest hosting this show, we're going to go really big on culture and entertainment.

Let's start with a thought experiment.

What if beyond the limits of our universe

there were other universes,

like a lot of other universes, a multiverse if you will, and what if in each of these

infinite parallel realities, our decisions could play out differently.

Different lives, but same us.

One life, you're married, another life, you're single, etc.

To most people, this sounds like a very far-fetched idea. This possibility of other universes beyond. people this

But real scientists have been exploring this in a very serious way for years. So far they have not proven the existence of

the multiverse, but you've probably begun to see the multiverse on screen. Movies like everything everywhere all at once.

It is also the idea behind the new Apple TV plus series Dark Matter.
