Today we dig into just what the candidates for president and for Congress want to do about immigration.

At southern border encounters between law enforcement and people seeking entry reached their

highest numbers on record last December.

The number of border encounters fell this spring, but

former President Donald Trump has seized on the issue in the campaign.

On day one of the Trump presidency I'm restoring the travel ban suspending refugee

admissions and keeping terrorists the hell out of our country.

And President Biden recently changed asylum rules for people arriving at the border.

He also offered protections to undocumented spouses and children of U.S. citizens who've lived

without papers in this country for a decade or more. The reason is simple, it embraces the American principle that we should keep families together.

Voter surveys show Americans list immigration and the southern border as a top concern this election year.
