Summary

Well, this sucks: Sony has closed Bluepoint, the semi-recently acquired studio behind some of the best remakes of PlayStation games to date, like Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, plus a slew of remasters and ports like the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, as well as bringing Gravity Rush from Vita to PS4. The last project we heard the studio was working on was a God of War live-service project, which seemed like the wrong fit, and even more so after the announcement that a remake of God of War’s original Greek trilogy is, in fact, in development. That remake is still a mystery, aside from a logo reveal and some tidbits of information from Kratos’ voice actor Christopher Judge (who is not in the remake.) Despite a complete lack of information, plenty of debate has sprung up around whether or not this eventual God of War Remake should include the sex minigames. A straight remake would be remiss to not include them, and a reboot would be likely need to retool them a bit. We’ll have to wait and see. Anyway, we also talk about Alfred Chicken, because it’s Friday and we’re a little loopy. Beyond, you know, I've been doing this a long time, and this always sucks, and it just feels like it's more common than ever now.

0:42.3

Like I know things were not easy during the PS3 generation, right?

0:48.3

Like there was, we effectively saw the collapse of the middle, the middle tier, the double A games, right?

0:54.5

Like we watched, we watched like publishers like midway and acclaim and all these other guys

0:58.6

that were like, you know, not honor students, but like regularly in the, you know,

1:02.9

C plus, B minus B plus territory, which we need those things.

1:06.5

And we saw things pivot towards AAA gaming, which Sony was specifically poised to be fantastic at, right?

1:15.2

I think inarguably, they have created some of the best first-party single-player AAA games of all time.

1:23.0

And at some point in the last 10 years between Jim Ryan and Herman Holst, and this is not just

1:29.9

exclusive, the PlayStation, we've seen this happen on Xbox as well, right?

1:32.7

Phil Spencer and all those guys over there, there's been this push to make everything a games

1:38.5

as a service game, a live service game.

1:41.4

And in doing that, we have lost incalcable amounts of talent and promise and potential.

1:49.9

Now, hold on. Let's back this up and just add some context here. So in case you missed it,

1:54.6
