Summary

People have been using this verse of Scripture to deny the deity of Christ for a long time. in reality, it's actually a beautiful way of teaching the deity and humanity of Christ. We will go through it in detail and answer objections while trying to make sure we don't lose the simple and profound teaching of the passage. Jesus didn't know the day or the hour. Why not? Does He know it now? Did the Holy Spirit know it? If Jesus didn't know then how does that bear down on so many today who are trying to figure out the day and hour? This is part 56 of the Mark Series, going verse by verse through the Gospel of Mark. Today we are in chapter 13:32-37. Feel free to use my videos in your own gatherings as an aid to studying Scripture. All right. Here's how it goes. Here's how the dilemma is presented to Christians, often

0:11.0

by Muslims or by others who would want to challenge the deity of Christ, heretical groups,

0:16.2

groups that want to teach something other than the deity of Christ, they'll say something

0:19.1

like this. And I want you to put yourself in the position of someone who asked to actually

0:22.1

answer this question, right? Does God know everything? And then of course your answer is

0:27.4

going to be if you're a Christian? Yes, God knows everything. And then you say, is Jesus

0:31.8

God? And you go, yeah, yeah, Jesus is God. And then they ask you the third question, does

0:38.0

Jesus know everything? And then you think, well, yes, if God knows everything in Jesus

0:44.1

is God, then clearly Jesus knows everything. And then they take you to Mark 13 verse 32 where

0:50.7

Jesus says that there's something he doesn't know. Let's look at this verse. But of that

0:55.9

day or hour, no one knows not even the angels in heaven nor the sun, but the Father alone.

And so this becomes the dilemma. This is the passage we happen to be in as I'm teaching

1:05.1

verse by verse through the gospel of Mark. I like to just tackle stuff as it comes in

1:09.6

this series in particular going through verse by verse teaching. I just take things as

1:13.8

they come and what comes up here is like the Muslim challenge, you know, to the Christian

1:17.6

belief in the deity of Christ. And I think it's very important that we don't react

1:23.1

wrongly to the challenge where we actually say, what does this mean? Like, how is it

1:28.4

that Jesus doesn't know something, didn't know something, what does that mean? And I've

1:32.5

got a list of questions that come up when I enter encounter this verse and this passage

1:38.1

in Mark. And we're going to answer those questions today in our Mark series. If this is your

first time, I'm Pastor Mike Winger. I teach the Bible. I do verse by verse teaching, apologetics,

theology, defending the Christian faith, explaining the Christian faith, responding to a weird
