Summary
At first, it was easy to ignore—a soft sound coming through the baby monitor late at night, just enough to stand out but not enough to question. The nursery always looked the same when they checked. Still. Quiet. Exactly as it should be.
It didn’t happen constantly, and it didn’t follow any clear pattern. Just enough that, over time, it became harder to dismiss completely. The kind of thing you notice, then explain away… until you notice it again.
Nothing in the room ever matched what they were hearing.
And eventually, they stopped trying to make it line up.
