| 0:39.7 | phrase, a good man is hard to find. And so I want to talk about that. I want to talk about that |
| 0:45.0 | biblically. First, I want to start off like this. Let's do a little thought experiment real |
| 0:48.9 | quick. Manhood is certainly something that people are talking about a lot these days. And so is |
| 0:53.6 | gender in general. So let me start by asking you a question that was posed to me when I was in college, and I found the answer to this pretty fascinating. But think about this for a second. If you woke up tomorrow and you were the opposite gender of what you are now. So if you're a man, you go to bed tonight, you wake up tomorrow, you're a woman. You're a woman. You go to bed tonight. You wake up tomorrow. You're a man. What are three things that would be different about your life? So think about that for a second. If I woke up tomorrow and I'm a woman, what are three things to be different about my life? So consider that for a second. When I was in college, the professor posed this question to our class. |
| 1:29.6 | Fascinating results. So we all had to write down our answers and we all shared them out loud. |
| 1:34.8 | So men shared, if I woke up tomorrow and I was a woman, then this, then this, then this. And then similar. |
| 1:41.3 | Women would share the same thing. And we all thought it was kind of comical, kind of funny, interesting thought experiment. Then the professor pointed out something that was truly shocking. He said, okay, men, I want you to count up of your three things, how many of the changes are positive? If you woke up tomorrow and you were a woman, here's some positive changes. And then women, I want you to count up, but the three changes you listed, how many of these changes are positive? |
| 2:06.7 | And then he asked, okay, men, how many had more positive than negative? |
| 2:10.7 | And no hands went up. |
| 2:12.9 | Women, how many had more positive than negative? |
| 2:15.1 | Every hand went up. |
| 2:16.8 | What we saw in this class and what we started then had a really robust conversation around |
| 2:21.3 | is at least culturally the idea was if I woke up tomorrow and I was a woman, |
| 2:26.9 | things might be worse for me or things might be harder for me or things. |
| 2:30.9 | The first things that come to mind are what I wasn't able to do anymore or what I would now have to do because I'm a woman. And for women, the thoughts they wrote down were now I would finally be able to do this or I wouldn't have to do that anymore. Some of these things were biological, some of them were cultural. And while it wasn't universally true, there were some men that had |
