The International Energy Agency has proposed its largest ever release of oil reserves in an effort

to tame a surge in crude prices

related to the U.S. and Israel's war in Iran. The plans to release 400 million barrels of oil

into the market was circulated at an emergency meeting of energy officials yesterday and will pass

today if none of the IEA's 32-member countries objects. The proposal is intended

to counter the massive disruption caused by the near total closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Authorities in the UAE say that four people have been wounded after a pair of Iranian drones

fell near Dubai International Airport. Despite the incident, flights are

continuing to and from the airport, which is the world's busiest for international travel.

And shares of Oracle rallied more than 7% in off-hours trading. That's after the cloud computing

company posted higher quarterly revenue and raised its sales outlook,

saying that companies have a growing need for cloud services to train and run AI.

Asian stocks have ended the day mixed.

European stocks are lower in midday trading, and U.S. stock futures are inching up ahead of U.S.

inflation data for February due out at 8.30 a.m. Eastern.
