And today, we are sadly missing our pal Rachel, who is feeling a little under the weather,

fear not, friends.

She is still fighting her way back into the vatular mansion.

But I feel like this episode has actually been a long time coming, because lately I've

been hearing a lot, seeing a lot, and talking a lot about a new kpop group that is kind of

making a pretty big splash right now.

They debuted last year, they've just released their second EP, which hit number one on

the Billboard charts, and they're called New Jeans.

That's super shy, it's one of their biggest songs right now, and it's kind of also the song

that's been stuck in my head all week.

But just to kind of give you a starter pack, New Jeans is a 5-piece girl group that was

put together by a door that is a subdivision of Hybe.

So this is the people who are kind of behind BTS, and the girl group New Jeans is made up

of Minji, Danielle, Hidden, Hyin, and Honey.

And they take a lot of inspiration from like mid tempo R&B, 90s pop, they're a little

more laid back than some of the big groups out there right now, like Blackpink, for example.

But you might notice that a lot of their sounds are inspired by things like Jersey Club

beats and layered harmonies, and that's because they've brought in writers who aren't from

the realms of kpop to elevate their sound.
