The first hurricane of the season might hit this weekend and thousands of people

in Louisiana are getting ready.

The AP reports Tropical Storm Berry could strengthen into a category one hurricane

before it hits the area.

Mandatory evacuations and hurricane warnings are already in effect and New Orleans

is under a state of emergency.

Forecasters say even if Barry does not turn into a hurricane they're still

concerned about the amount of rain this storm will bring. The Weather Channel

reports parts of the lower Mississippi Valley could see 20 inches of rain

into next week and coastal flooding is still a big concern.

As for the northeast, Accue weather says to expect a heat wave,

no word on how hot it'll get,

it kind of depends on what Barry does this weekend.
