It is Saturday, January 17th, and we begin this morning in Minnesota, where Donald Trump's

Justice Department has opened an investigation, not into the ICE officer who shot and killed

Renee Good at close range 10 days ago, but rather against Minnesota Governor Tim Walls

and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry. Both are Democrats who have criticized the president's mass

deployment of ICE officers to Minneapolis and the brutal crackdown that they've engaged in while

there. We found out last night that both men are now under criminal investigation for

allegedly impeding federal law

enforcement. This comes just days after the Deputy Attorney General of the United States, Todd Blanche,

posted a message on social media addressed to these two men. Walls and Fry, I'm focused on

stopping you from your terrorism by whatever means necessary. This is not a threat. It's a promise."

Shortly after that news broke last night, the Attorney General Pam Bondi chimed in as well,

quote, a reminder to all those in Minnesota, no one is above the law.

Now, despite the threats of prosecution and other intimidation tactics from federal authorities,

Minnesotans remain resolute.

Temperatures in the region have been well below freezing, but people have continued to turn out to protest ICE's overreach, and last night, those protesters were handed a victory.

A district judge in Minnesota just issued a preliminary injunction that orders federal agents

not to, quote, retaliate

against persons who are engaging in peaceful and unobstructive protest activity, end quote.

The ruling sets limits on federal agents' actions toward protesters, including limits on the use

of pepper spray and other crowd dispersal tools. It also restricts them from stopping and detaining people in vehicles

that are not forcibly interfering with them.

America has gone through many periods of unrest.
