And welcome to Steph I've never told you a production of IHart Radio.

And today we are going to do something unpleasant, Annie, and I hate that we have to do unpleasant things, but I guess that's the nature of intersectional feminism, especially

when we're talking about intersectional feminism in the U.S. today.

But we're actually going to talk about the not-so-great history of ICE or the

immigration and customs enforcement in the U.S. and also the Customs Border Patrol. So they kind of go

hand in hand in what we're talking about today. And this is one of those topics that affects us all,

whether we are immigrants or not. And again, as we are

in an intersectional podcast, we wanted to address what is happening and how some are dealing

with the realities of today. So this is going to be a multi-part series type of thing. I think it's just

going to be two-parters. We'll see. We'll see. Because it is an ongoing thing. And for today's portion, we are doing the historical context of what is ICE and what is CBP and how it came about today. Content warning. I think that can be easily read into. There's a lot of trauma in this conversation.

We're going to be talking about separation of families. We're going to be talking about death.

Unfortunately, we're going to talk about rape and survivor later in these episodes. So we're going to put that caveat here.

Just the fact that it is a relevant topic today is traumatic in itself.

We know that world issues are bad.

So, yeah, traumatic.

And believe us, we feel that pain.
