Several years ago, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink declared that

companies must have environmental, social, and governance standards, or the world's largest

asset manager would not invest in them. That was a key moment in bringing ESG to the forefront

of corporate goals. The acronym is a catch-all phrase for policies that include everything from being environmentally

friendly to eliminating discrimination in the workplace.

More recently, those who are opposed to such practices have rebranded the term, calling it, quote,

woke capitalism.

A few weeks ago, we told you that McDonald's scrubbed the term from its website and even Fink himself has stopped using the term ESG because it's become such a political hot potato, he recently told Reuters.
