Greg, White Forest comes to town, North Carolina coming off a loss, but has an opportunity to win the 500th game in the Smith Center.

A lot of news about the Smith Center, what are they going to do with it, we can talk about it, but 500 wins in a building who i remember vividly vividly when it

opened way back in 1986 i can't believe how time flies great it is wild it is it is funny that

uh by the time that the game tips off on saturday uh we're talking about almost 40 years of the day that the Smith Center opened and the

first Smith Center win.

If you go back to January 18th, 1986, Carolina defeated number three Duke, Tart Hills, of course,

were ranked number one at the time.

But that was a 95, 92 game.

And a lot of really good victories, of course, along the way.

500 wins over a 40-year period is quite remarkable.

And I think it's a testament to kind of what North Carolina

basketball has been about it really speaks to the tradition and nostalgia that

that's part of the Smith Center lore I know there was a lot of people who were a

little bit upset that Carolina moved from Carl Michael to the Smith Center.

And just like that 40 years ago, there's still some feelings about what's going to happen

when a decision is made about the Smith Center here in the coming months about what that

renovation or rebuild or new arena is going to
