Summary

Greg Barnes and Tommy Ashley discuss the news that Freddie Kitchens is out as offensive coordinator at North Carolina. The move opens up a huge position coach need for Bill Belichick and crew in a major area of need for the program. Along side the Kitchens news, Belichick has relieved Special Teams coach Mike Priefer of his duties in that role as well. Barnes discusses what's next for Belichick, Mike Lombardi and the decision makers in the Kenan Football Center as the calendar nears 2026. **Call to Action:**   **Subscribe:** Follow 'Inside Carolina' wherever you get your podcasts to never miss an episode!   **Review:** Leave us a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify to help us reach more Tar Heel fans!   **Visit:** Explore http://www.InsideCarolina.com for breaking news, recruiting updates, and expert commentary on all things UNC sports. Welcome into a live, I'm Tommy Ashley. That's Greg Barnes. This is Inside Carolina, of course, sponsored by Johnny T-shirt. We're going to find out who the diehards are. We were on a live show last night, talking about next steps for North Carolina football, into, what, 10.30-ish or so. I went to bed well after midnight, as I'm sure Greg Barnes did.

And here we are at 8.30-ish on a Friday morning with the news that Freddie Kitchens is out,

0:45.2

officially out, as offensive coordinator for North Carolina.

0:48.8

Greg, certainly not a surprise.

0:51.8

No, and as we reported last week, this was the expectation all along um and one of the things we talked

0:57.9

about last night on our show tommy is how there's a little bit of frustration within the fan base of

1:19.1

communications that take place with potential prospects can know, okay, number one, it's going to be

1:25.6

different than last year. There's going to be a new office coordinator.

1:28.7

And then you can kind of go through the process of trying to firm up who the next

1:32.8

office of coordinator is going to be.

1:34.7

We know that there's been a lot of conversations with various options.

1:39.2

Thus far, we are not in position at this point in time to name any names.

1:43.8

But things are rolling. And I think that's important for the future of the program,

1:48.4

especially after how poor the offense was this past season.

1:52.3

Yeah, when you look at the offensive numbers, and Greg, you certainly have them,

1:55.4

and we've talked about them of plenty, there has to be a change.

1:59.4

And so, like you said, the timing was the only issue. Freddie Kitchens,

2:03.5

of course, and holdover for Mack Brown staff. And my reporting is he showed up for work every day

2:09.8

and ended up getting the offensive coordinator position. I'll tell you, he was a fun dude to talk to,
