I think you need to call not only like the ID fellow, but then if you don't agree with their

opinion, then just call up the ID attending.

Just make sure that you're dosing it right and you're choosing it correctly.

Fungal infections are important to understand in critically ill patients, aren't they, Josh?

And we need to know how to treat this at all hours of the day.

Yeah, 100%. This is increasingly common. And I think especially as our patient population is

more and more complex and immunosuppressed, and we're using more and more powerful anti-bacterial

agents, we're going to see this more and more. So this is something I think that we need to be comfortable with understanding these drugs and also starting them empirically. So I think

probably everyone who listens to this is super comfortable starting Peptazzo or vancomycin.

But at the same time, I think hopefully we could also get comfortable starting mycopungin for

candidiasis or something like that. So with that being the purpose of today's podcast to talk about empiric therapy and how to focus

and after, let's start with the basics, Josh, because I think before someone changed my mind

about this, I was really intimidated because there's so much Latin when it comes to yeast

and molds and dimorphic fungi that I get really confused.
