Well, Jackie, it's the moment everyone's been waiting for. It's our end of year awards,

although by the time people listen to this, it'll actually be the beginning of 2018. So maybe we should have done this a bit before.

But anyway, here we are. In terms of 2017, is 2017 a vintage year, or is it a year you think we'll all want to forget?

It's not as bad as 2016 in terms of everybody wanting to forget it.

And in some ways it should be a vintage year because we had a general election.

We had the Brexit negotiations.

We had effectively a new government.

We had quite a bit of change round.

We had some international, you know, the new US president.

But despite all of those

things, it's felt a bit sort of meh, really, during the course of the year. So we'll have to work

hard to make it exciting in our awards today. Well, we will. I think we've got some funny ones

coming up as well. So let me put to you the first category, politician of the year. Who is your

politician of the year? I have taken an international approach and my politician of the year is

Emmanuel Macron. Well, just because you fancy him. No, I'm coming to the ones I fancy later.

No, because he proves that it's possible to be a radical

centre-left politician with an open and pro-European approach and still be successful with the

electorate, even if not in the UK. How on earth can you describe Manuel Macron as radical? He's all

piss and wind? No, he isn't. He has proved that it's possible to win from the centre, to take a much more positive approach

to the sort of international world in which you live in.

So yes, of course he needs to continue to prove himself.

But he's my politician of the year.
