I was rejected from my dream university. and I think my mother is responsible.

Mommy?

Mommy. My parents were born in Europe. They immigrated to Canada in the 70s and worked really hard to give my sister and me a decent life.

Education was their top priority. When I was a child, my parents would send me to Europe for the summer to be with family. It gave me awesome vacations and made me absolutely love Europe. I applied to get Portuguese citizenship as a teen. When I was done with high school, I wanted to apply to universities in Europe. We finished high school at 16 here, so my mom convinced me to stay in Canada

till after C-E-G-E-P to your transition, so I wouldn't be a minor anymore, and I agreed.

A year and a half passed, and I had worked my sweet booty off at school to get great grades.

I was hitting 34s on our R-Cot rate, which is pretty good.

Oh my God.

What is it 34?

I volunteered, worked, and did all that I could to be able to study in Europe.

I applied to a couple universities in different countries.

The process was expensive and long, but I was pretty sure I'd get into at least one.

I also had booked a trip to Portugal for the summer to settle in. I was set. My mother freaked out when she

saw I was serious. She started by saying I'd have to pay myself for applications and trips and that she

couldn't afford the study costs. You know, it's expensive over there. That's right. I told her not to worry because I had a plan and I had it covered. By then, my sister was a successful lawyer and she helped me along the process. I was really expecting to get in. As time passed, I got two rejection letters, which bummed me, but it wasn't too surprising. However, I never got accepted from another university.
