Alberto Benitez was destined to be a cop. My dad was the first ethnic Mexican police officer in Beville, Texas.

If you don't understand the history of Texas,

you wouldn't, you'd say, no, it's no big deal,

in 1953.

It's a big deal, because dad could only arrest an answer to calls involving Mexicans. That's the way it was, you know.

Alberto's grandfather was a cop. His father was a cop, his uncles, brothers, everybody was in law enforcement.

Alberto even taught criminal justice on top of his full-time job.
