Summary

It's a bigger issue now than ever before in my lifetime. We live in an upside down and rebellious culture and this is seen nowhere more clearly than our attitudes toward sex, marriage, dating, gender and purity. Dr. Sean McDowell has just written a book that is meant to give people a biblical vision for loving God and loving others in these areas. And if that seems like a cliche to you then it's because you too have become victim to upside down thinking on these issues. As a youth pastor I discovered that the most common reason people have for serious moral failure in their lives is a lack of godliness in relationships, particularly romantic ones. 0:06.1	Sean McDowell about what I think is like legitimately one of the biggest most hit home issues that every Christian is going to face in their life today
0:15.8	as a youth pastor for 13 years and doing youth ministry for even longer this is
0:20.8	probably the number one reason I saw people falling in their walk with Christ
0:26.5	or stumbling in their understanding of God and it has to do with the topics of romance, intimacy, gender, sex, like all those types of issues rolled up into one thing.

I don't know if we'll have time for Q&A stuff like that later, but I just want to get right to what I think is the most valuable stuff we've got because the and Sean tell me what you think about this it seems to me that the new testament is very serious about getting our hearts and minds right and pure as it comes to issues related to human sexuality and purity in relationships.
1:25.9	And this is something that, you know, this is the will of God, your sanctification that you abstain from
1:30.9	sexual immorality. Like this is like the one example of
1:33.4	here's God's clear will in this passage you know and it's heavy on my heart what's
1:39.7	the reason why you've decided to focus on this book? Well, first off, I agree with that.
1:44.0	When you look at all the sin lists in the New Testament,
1:48.0	amongst other sins, Pornea or sexual immorality is always mentioned.
1:54.0	And when students ask me what's God's will for my life,
1:56.0	I cite the verse that you mentioned.
1:58.0	This is God's will for your life,
2:00.0	your sanctification, that you avoid sexual immorality.
2:03.5	So that's not to say sexual immorality is the worst sin.
2:06.5	I think idolatry is, but the Bible takes it very, very seriously.
