John chapter 8 I want to start around verse 31 to the Jews who had believed him

Jesus said if you hold to my teaching you are really my disciples then you will know the

truth and the truth will set you free you will will know the truth, the truth that Jesus was sent to the world

to save us from sin, that Jesus is the son of God who ultimately was going to die on the cross for

our sins, rise again, and will come again to save us. So you will know the truth that there's hope and that

you will not die to sin because jesus is saying i am the hope and if you know that i'm the truth

then you will be free then they answered him saying well we're the abraham descendants and we have

have never been slaves of anyone so how can you say that we

shall be set free? And then Jesus replied, I tell you the truth. Everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son, those that are in the family belong forever.

Verse 36.

So if the son sets you free, then you are free indeed.

So Jesus is saying, listen, if you believe in me as the son of God, I have already set you free. So if you have

been set free from your sin, why do you still live as someone who has no freedom? I got to talk to

somebody right now. Okay, so let's break this down. What's happening spiritually? Sin is basically when

we miss the mark when we don't hit God's law. All right?

So look, let me give you a little theology, just a touch of theology, and then we'll get

into some things that really show you how to walk this out practically. So the theology is,

when we miss the mark, when we miss the mark of hitting God's law, we sin. Well, what is

God's law? Jesus says this. You mark of hitting God's law, we sin. Well, what is God's law? Jesus says this.

You can sum up God in two commandments. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind,

and all your soul. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it.
